Overview

EzTip is developed by Sienar Labs. Your tips are your business—we don't collect your data and we definitely don't sell anything. The free version of EzTip is supported by ads, which means our advertising partner may collect some data as described below. You can control personalized ads through your device settings.

Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. EzTip does not require an account, and we do not track your calculations, bill amounts, or tips.

All your calculations and preferences (like tip percentage, currency, and theme) are stored locally on your device and never leave it.

We do collect anonymous usage analytics (like which screens are viewed) to help improve the app. See the Analytics & Diagnostics section for details.

Tracking

EzTip itself does not track you or collect personal information. However, our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may use tracking technologies to serve personalized advertisements. On iOS, you control this through the App Tracking Transparency prompt. We do not sell your personal information.

Advertising

EzTip displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. To support the free version of the app, our advertising partners may collect certain information from your device to serve relevant ads.

Information collected by our advertising partners may include:

  • Device identifiers (such as advertising ID)
  • IP address (used to estimate general location)
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, views)
  • App usage information

This information is used to display advertisements, measure ad performance, provide personalized ads based on your interests, and prevent fraud.

On iOS, you will be asked whether to allow tracking for personalized ads. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track," you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on data from other apps and websites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization

Third-Party Services

EzTip uses the following third-party services:

  • Open Exchange Rates API: Used solely to fetch currency conversion rates. No user data is sent in these requests. This service may log IP addresses as part of standard server operations, which is outside our control.
  • PostHog: Used for anonymous analytics to help us understand app usage and improve the experience. See the Analytics section above for details on what is and isn't tracked. PostHog's Privacy Policy

Currency rates are cached locally on your device for 24 hours to minimize API calls and improve performance.

Data Storage & Retention

All app settings and cached data are stored locally on your device using standard iOS/Android storage mechanisms. This includes:

  • Your preferred tip percentage
  • Round-up preference
  • Selected currencies
  • Theme preference (light/dark/system)
  • Cached exchange rates (refreshed every 24 hours)

This data is not accessible to us and remains on your device until you uninstall the app. Bill amounts and calculation results are never stored—they exist only in memory while you're using the app.

Analytics & Diagnostics

We use PostHog to understand how people use EzTip. This helps us improve the app and fix issues.

What we track:

  • General app usage (screens viewed, buttons tapped)
  • Device type and operating system
  • App version
  • Crash reports and errors

What we DO NOT track:

  • Your bill amounts or tip calculations
  • Your location (we use your device's region setting to suggest a default currency, but we never access GPS or track where you are)
  • Personal identifying information (name, email, phone)
  • Any data you enter into the calculator

On our website, you can control analytics through the cookie consent banner. You can change your preferences at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.

Your Rights & Data Deletion

Since EzTip doesn't collect or store any of your personal data on our servers, there's nothing for us to delete, export, or provide access to. All data is stored locally on your device.

To delete all EzTip data: Simply uninstall the app. This permanently removes all locally stored preferences and cached data.

For users in the European Union (GDPR), California (CCPA/CPRA), and other jurisdictions with data protection laws: because we don't collect personal data, standard data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) are satisfied by our minimal data approach and local-only storage.

Children's Privacy

EzTip does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. The app is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
